Recently, Corban & Blair introduced some large regrowth timber frames in black, white and walnut. The three colour ways in a slim profile let customers choose the most suitable to match the décore of their room. Selecting a frame size really depends on the position you choose to hang or stand it. I chose these frames because I really loved the expansive mat size while knowing they would blend with my wine cabinet, enhance its character and create a mood beyond the wine bottles!
Starting with a frame you love which is going to build on the interior design of the room, isn’t a bad way to go, especially when the mat contains a 10x8” space: a standard photo size. As photographic images are relatively easy to find, the subject matter is unlimited. The source can be your own personal shots, those from a friend who might be a keen cameraman, or something you purchase.
Choosing pictures for frames depends on where you might put them, the mood you want to create or the colours that reflect the theme of your room. For my home where all our pictures and photos depict an enjoyment of life, I chose great shots that would promote interest and stimulate recall. One photo I chose had been carefully kept for some eight years, purchased from the Sydney Morning Herald in the year 2000. Which Australian could forget those fantastic images of the opening ceremony at the Olympic Games in Sydney, with Nicki Webster flying into the Dreamtime? This image is sure to spark memories and conversation amongst all my guests and visitors to the wine cabinet!
The second image I chose was one from an open garden in Bowral that my husband took. We have printed this off at home in black and white, but perhaps it would look better in the rich green colours of the leaves that surrounded the statue of the little piper, but because it sits beside the black casting of our Welder, we will have to print one in colour and see if we get the same relationship between these objects.
Both frames have been hung using the new 3M sticky back hangers available at good hardware stores. Each size explains the weight it will carry. The ones behind these 20x20” Slim Box frames are designed to hold 1kg, but remember to let the adhesive rest for 10 hours before successfully hanging your frame.
Using Corban & Blair frames gives a great result while allowing you to personalise your interior decorating with little outlay.
